The starting Assembly in comparison with the last month changed a little. In the January issue I enough to explain why at this stage it makes no sense to build an inexpensive computer on the platform Intel LGA1151-v2. Then I explained why in the starting Assembly is recommended, Radeon RX 570, not the GTX GeForce 1650 SUPER. However, for the last time in “Regarde” cheaper 8-Gigabyte version of the Radeon RX 580 — models such as ASRock Gaming Phantom D and PowerColor Red Dragon, at the time of writing could be purchased for 12 500 rubles. Turns out, paying only 1,000 rubles, we get a device that faster Radeon RX 570 on average by 10-15 %. GeForce GTX SUPER 1650 is the same as the RX 580 and Radeon, and now the reason to put NVIDIA in the Assembly even less. Our tests show that these video cards show the same performance, but it is obvious that long-distance red gaming accelerator will last longer. Not quite right to compare the amounts of memory on AMD and NVIDIA, that is, in the forehead, but now in many AAA games at high and very high quality graphics 4 GB VRAM is not enough. In the starting Assembly to the Radeon RX 580 and begs Ryzen 5 3500, but this chip, unfortunately, does not hasten to become cheaper in Russia. If you find it on sale for ~8 000 rubles (hint: find), then feel free to put in the system. Testing shows that the chip, though does not have an additional 6 streams, but in most cases it turns out the games faster even Ryzen 2600X 5 — the difference in minimum FPS up to 20 %.

I am constantly in comments and personal messages asking to talk about even cheaper system units — I promise, this year the topic will be the subject of a separate issue of the “Computer of the month”. But in the meantime let’s see what you can save within the starter Assembly. First, instead of Ryzen 5 1600 you can take the 8-line Quad like Ryzen 5 1500X (6 000) and Ryzen 5 1400 (5 500 rubles). In my opinion, this economy is unnecessary. But buying a 4-core Ryzen 3 1200 (3 500 rubles) is a serious cheapening of the Assembly. On the other hand, when using powerful graphics, the difference in performance between Ryzen Ryzen 3 1200 5 1600 in Full HD with 30-40% because many modern games well uses six cores of the CPU.

A more radical upgrade would be to buy a 4-core processor Ryzen 5 3400G (9 500 rubles) and the abandonment of discrete graphics at all. Please note that we are talking about 12-nanometer chip using the Zen architecture+, even though it refers to a series of Ryzen 3000. The onboard graphics of “stone” — Radeon Vega 11 — the level of performance can be compared to GeForce GT 1030, and this means that you can play in Full HD, you can mostly use low quality graphics. And with Ryzen 5 3400G better use of faster frequency RAM.

The hybrid model Ryzen 3 3200G costs 6 000 rubles — this Quad uses Vega graphics Radeon 8, Radeon that is Vega in 11 games, an average of 20 %. Basically, before you an excellent Foundation of the system is not for gaming, but for watching movies and Internet surfing.

Naturally, it is possible to save on the motherboard. Model class B450M ASRock PRO4-F is used in the starting Assembly with the expectation of a later upgrade. If the computer is used mostly for entertainment, then such payment will be enough to eventually upgrade to 7 Ryzen 3700X — “red” chips, fortunately, seriously cheaper at the time of the release of the next-generation processors. I have repeatedly pointed out that between the Zen and Zen 2, figuratively speaking, formed a chasm — too good was the new architecture AMD. But towards the end of the year will be presented solutions based on Zen 3 and AM4 will support them.

Finally, instead of 16 GB of RAM can take only 8 GB. Note that for this volume in some cases already is not enough. On this topic we are preparing a detailed article, but I can already tell that modern games 11 out of 15 consumes more than 8 GB of RAM. At the same time 16 GB of system memory is always enough.

Radeon RX 590 disappeared from the market in the “Regarde” — expected, however. So, I did the right thing, even when in the past the issue started to recommend you a GeForce RX 5500 XT. Let me remind you, the 8-Gigabyte model is ahead of the Radeon RX 590 only 1 %, but 25 % less than GeForce GTX 1660 SUPER. The 4-Gigabyte version of the Radeon RX XT 5500 due to lack of memory turns out to be slower by as much as 14 % (and we are talking about average FPS, with a minimum of all the really bad). I note that at equal level of performance the energy efficiency of Radeon RX 590 is much worse than new items, using a 7-nm chip Navi. So, in the program FurMark GeForce RX 5500 XT 8 GB consumes a maximum of 153 watts, 83 watts less than the Polaris. This means that new products from partners AMD will be cooler and quieter, even “five thousand five hundredth” and does not give a noticeable increase in FPS today.

5500 Radeon RX XT 8 GB is a little less than the GeForce GTX 1650 SUPER. NVIDIA is faster on average by 16 %, but long-distance accelerator AMD will last longer. There are already games in which the lack of memory affects comfort. And like when you use very high quality graphics, the system shows a good average FPS, but the fact of the matter is there are significant personnel drawdown frequency. Here is a small example: in my experience, if you use the maximum graphics quality in Full HD resolution more than four gigabytes of VRAM required games such as Battlefield V, GTA V, Watch Dogs 2, Red Dead Redemption 2, Three Kingdoms Total War, HITMAN 2, Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, Far Cry: New Dawn, Metro: Exodus, Deus Ex: Mankind Divided and the Shadow of the Tomb Raider. As you can see, 6 GB of VRAM in modern games the video card is a very… short-sighted or something. Now this volume is mostly enough, but what about tomorrow?

Speaking of VRAM. Our website has published a detailed review of the Radeon RX XT 5600, which somehow also got 6 GB of VRAM, although the model acts as a successor of Radeon RX Vega 56. Tests show that the new product “red” is ahead by 23 % Radeon RX XT 5500, 7 % — GeForce GTX 1660 SUPER and 3% GeForce GTX Ti 1660. While Radeon RX 5600 XT is inferior to the GeForce RTX 2060 an average of 10 %. The appearance of this card contributed to the fact that younger RTX adapter NVIDIA dropped the price and now costs less than 300 dollars.

Radeon RX 5600 XT is already sold in the “Regarde” — the most inexpensive model PowerColor AXRX 5600XT 6GBD6-3DH/OC is 22 000 rubles. Sure, to pay 6, 000 7 % gain in games makes no sense. It is better to dig a few and take RX Radeon 5700, which on average is faster by 18 %. And 23 000 rubles, you can take GeForce RTX 2060. Sure, 5600 Radeon RX XT in the near future will become cheaper, but even at a price of 19 to 20 thousand rubles, the prospects of this card are unclear.

And it’s not just about Ryzen 5 3600, but on Core i5-9400F that are used in the base Assembly.

As always, consider the performance of the listed processors in games. Here the Core i7-2600K is noticeably inferior to modern shestiyaderny, even if they do not support Hyper-threading technology, — 8-thread Intel chip is a bottleneck, even with the graphics level GeForce 5700 RX (XT). So, stand on the basis of Ryzen 5 3600 compared to the same system on a Core i7-2600K on average in ten games gives a 45% higher average frame rate and provides 65 % better minimum FPS. Before you results which, in my opinion, do not require additional comments.

Ryzen 5 3600 is 13 000 rubles. The same is the former leader of the platform AM4 — 7 Ryzen 2700X. However, in games more modern processor is faster, always faster. Even in resource-intensive programs 6-core at least not inferior to an 8-core. Well, it is obvious that the architecture is much superior to the Zen 2 Zen and Zen+. Returning to the article “Ryzen 5 3600 vs Sandy Bridge: however not – suffer!”: with a shortage of funds (or the need to take a “bung” to wait for processors Ryzen 4000) should take 5 or 3500 Ryzen Ryzen 5 3500X. In “Regarde” Junior 6-core is 9 500 rubles.

Interestingly, in eight games out of ten stand Core i5-9400F is at least not worse than the system Ryzen 5 3600. However, after studying the table above, we see that to achieve parity for LGA1151 platform-v2 necessary to use more expensive motherboard, because only the Z-Intel chipsets allow you to use high frequency RAM. When using RAM standard DDR4-2666 results of the Intel booth, there is nothing to hide, would have been not as impressive.

I always warn that the LGA1151 platform-v2 living out their last days. If Intel is not going to happen any incident, then in April-may, store shelves will be filled with new processors and boards for the platform LGA1200. Thus, the family of chips Core i5 will not only get a higher clock speed and more cache in the third level, but support for Hyper-Threading technology. Everything goes to the fact that the model Core i5-10500 will cost more Ryzen 5 3600, but how it will actually — we’ll find out.

As always, I remind you, dear readers, that even in 2020 it is likely to buy motherboard chipset, B450, which will not support chips Ryzen 3000, as it is called, out of the box. Nothing wrong with that, because to update the BIOS version can be armed with a processor Ryzen first or second generation. Or ask to do it in the warranty section of the store in which the purchase was cost. But before buying, always make sure that your chosen motherboard supports the new processors Ryzen! In General, the optimal build for the past month has not changed. In the system recommended Intel Core i5-9500F, but I noticed that the price of this 6-core option in the “Regarde” is constantly changing. At the time of this writing, the chip cost 13 000 rubles, and for the money it is the place in the computer. See, Core i5-9500F only 2 000 rubles more expensive than the Core i5-9400F. When you load all six cores senior chip runs at 4.2 GHz, which is 300 MHz more than the Junior 6-core. That is, the frequency of the first higher by 8 %, but it is more expensive than 18 %. In last year’s October issue, I showed you what is the advantage of frequency allows to obtain up to 23% more FPS in games at Full HD resolution. So in the case of Intel, a small increase in frequency can give a good increase in FPS.

Let me draw your attention that 14 500 rubles, you can take the model Core i5-9600KF. Yes, the K-chip can be overclocked, but in this case I recommend to invest in higher quality mother Board and CPU cooler, and this is an additional cost. Besides, overclocking is engaged in low users.

With a choice of 5 3600 Ryzen too clear. The transition to Ryzen 5 3600X does not make much sense, since both of the chip work at almost the same frequencies and almost not amenable to overclocking. Buying Ryzen 7 2700X unnecessary — this moment we have already discussed. But Ryzen 7 3700X costs significantly more than all these CPUs — it is in an advanced Assembly, which I’ll discuss next.

The easiest way within the advanced Assembly to define with the Central processors from AMD and Intel. In the first case, the choice falls on Ryzen 7 3700X — we can afford to take the 8-core. Ryzen all chips have an unlocked multiplier. Therefore, in theory, we can disperse it. Only here, at this stage the same Ryzen Ryzen 3700X 7 and 7 3800X not very good at overclocking, and are working, in fact, at their maximum frequencies. Yes, the older 8-core AMD running at a higher frequency, but our various tests show that the difference between Ryzen Ryzen 7 3800X and 7 3700X is an average of 120 MHz for such an increase makes no sense to overpay. Besides, as it turned out, Ryzen 7 3800X consumes more energy and more heat.

In fact, if we talk about the increase in demanding tasks, the striking effect will only Ryzen 9 3900X, but it costs almost twice. For games you can do 6-core Ryzen 5 3600 — in such circumstances, the chips show almost the same results. Because today six fast cores is quite enough for PC games. Cosmedent — emphasize this once more — is taken including and under performing resource-intensive tasks. And yet in the “Computer of the month” system is recommended, particularly for growth — the era of the 8-core is not far off, I have repeatedly raised this issue, for example here.

Advanced Assembly recommended Intel 8-core chip Core i7-9700F. The multiplier it is locked so to overclock the CPU will not work. Alternatives that serve processor model Core i7-9700KF (27 500 USD), Core i7-9700K (28 000), Core i7-8700K (24 500 USD), Core i7-8700 (24 000) and Core i7-9700 (26 000). The letter F in the name of the device suggests that the CPU is locked by the integrated video core. Given the fact that our assemblies are always equipped with discrete graphics, there is nothing to worry. All Core i7-9700 work on similar frequencies, so the model with an unlocked multiplier (and the letter “K” in the name), it makes sense to take only under acceleration. In this case, I would have got a more efficient cooling system — superclean, for example. To take instead of the Core i7-9700F 6-core (but the 12-thread) Core i7-8700(K) also do not see the point — our tests show that 8 real cores running besides at a higher frequency are faster than 12 threads.

At the same time buying a Core i9-9900 will cost you 31 000. It turns out that Ryzen 7 3700X and Core i7-9700F is the optimal solution in its class. Note that for games more suitable system based on the LGA1151 platform-v2. Along with graphics GeForce RTX 2070 SUPER it is ahead of Assembly Ryzen 7 3700X an average of 12% in Full HD resolution, 8 % — in BAYS and 4% in Ultra HD. Basically, if you play exclusively in Full HD resolution, the GeForce RTX 2070 SUPER is the ceiling for 8-, 12 – and 16-core AMD. Only here, again, the system on the basis of Ryzen 7/9 is not only for games, at the moment, the AM4 platform looks more versatile.

Video for advanced Assembly to decide harder. Because there is a Radeon 5700 XT RX, which is inferior to the GeForce RTX 2070 SUPER resolution WQHD no more than 10 %, but it is worth less than 5-6 thousand rubles. But NVIDIA hardware supports DXR — whatever you say, and games with ray tracing becomes more and more. GeForce RTX 2070 SUPER — this is the adapter that is able to provide a comfortable FPS at resolutions of Full HD and WQHD when you enable the maximum quality of DXR.

If the level of performance GeForce RTX 2070 SUPER 5700 and Radeon RX XT does not suit you, I recommend to aim a blow directly on RTX 2080 GeForce Ti. Because buy, for example, the GeForce RTX 2080 SUPER speed up your system by 10 %, but to pay you will have about 15 000.

The selection of other components, I think, is obvious. For Intel platform fee is charged on the basis of Z390 Express chipset — such Converter which will not overheat when you work the CPU at maximum. If the Assembly was used K chip, then I would recommend something class Z390 Gigabyte AORUS ELITE or PRO.

Platform AM4 it is possible to do payment on the basis of B450-logic. From X470 this chipset is different, in fact, the inability to use SLI and CrossFire arrays in the mode PCI Express x8+x8. You know, not really necessary — build a pair of cards turns out to be inappropriate activity, even in case of extreme build. From X570 logic B450 does not support PCI Express 4.0. Devices that support this interface are already emerging, but, in my opinion, there is no need. Graphics cards, which limits the bandwidth of the PCI Express x16 is not for sale. SSD, supporting PCI Express 4.0, inferior to the flagship PCI Express 3.0.

Moving from the starting Assembly to the maximum, we slowly get to the best iron that is compatible with mass AMD and Intel. In the case of maximum Assembly, there are various options. Once we have a large budget and not only do we need a gaming PC, but in a powerful workstation, you should pay attention to the AM4 platform. I always recommend to look in the direction 12-core, bypassing Ryzen 9 3950X. But if you know that the 16-core model you need to perform a specific task, then take safely this chip — in addition, he continues to fall and is in the “Regarde” already 54 000. If you need a really powerful PC for work and play, then Ryzen 9 3900X, in my opinion, would be sufficient. To pay for 15% growth more than 15 000 rubles or not — you decide, dear readers.

If you need the fastest gaming system unit, then you cannot do without the 8-core Core i9. In particular, Core i9-9900K ahead Ryzen 9 3900X 15 and 5 % in permission Full HD and Ultra HD, respectively.
