The year began terribly. As you know, in January the entire globe covered the second wave of mining fever. Then starting the Assembly I pointed out GeForce GTX 1050 Ti, which can be rented for 12 000 rubles. However, it was only one week and the video card literally disappeared from the market. Model Radeon RX 560 can be bought for 20 thousand rubles, and GeForce GTX 1060 earnestly sold for 100,000 rubles and more. For the “Computer of the month” these are dark times. If GeForce GTX 1050 was a little unnecessary, then here is some GeForce GTX 1070 for normal (~30 000), the money was only towards the end of the summer.

In January I had high hopes for CES, but rather, on the announcement of the Junior Intel LGA1151 platform-v2. If you remember, when the first 4 – and 6-core chips Coffee Lake to sale you could find only expensive motherboard based on set logic Z370 Express. This state of Affairs, for example, did not allow me to recommend a starting build of Core i3-8100, but in the core — Core i5-8400. Well, a circuit Board on chips H310 and B360 Express — life slowly went back to normal.

As for AMD, the build platform is based on the AM4 can be described as stable. Place in the budget computer alternately taken 3 1200 Ryzen, Ryzen 3 2200G — the first “red” chips with integrated graphics Vega went on sale in February. Our tests have shown that the more modern model is faster by working at a higher frequency. However, towards the end of the year Ryzen 3 1200 fell significantly — an average of 1,000 rubles. For initial Assembly, such savings will not be excess.

In the AMD computer I always tried to take on Board B350-chipset, albeit inexpensive. Due to this, using boxed cooler, we can increase the performance Ryzen 3 1200 alone. Practice shows that this processor accelerates to 3.7-3.8 GHz without serious voltage increase. Only at the end of the year, in December, low-cost Board based on the chipset B350 disappeared from the sale — a deficit, and in the opening Assembly had to recommend a solution based on the A320-chipset.

A shortage of something- here, perhaps, the keynote of any edition of “Computer of the month”, released in 2018. Over the last 12 months we (bend your fingers) are faced with a shortage of graphics cards, RAM, CPUs, motherboards and even power supplies. So, in September of “taking off” prices on Intel processors. And it seems to be the focal theme of the October issue was supposed to be the appearance in the sale of video cards GeForce RTX, however, autumn showed that at least a resonant event in the computer industry is a real shortage of Intel — in just one month the cost of many models jumped to a completely inadequate values.

Quad-core Core i3-8100 instantly rose from 8 to 13 thousand rubles. Of course, at this price this processor was neither in the starting nor in the base assemblies. Yes, in the second half of 2018, we’re right back where you started — to dual-core “hyperpnea”. Only this time the choice fell on the model Gold series.

Please note that all editions of “Computer of the month” in the startup Assembly used discrete graphics. I would have instead of a bunch of “Ryzen 3 1200 + GeForce GTX 1050 Ti” to apply, for example, Ryzen 5 2400G and a set of high frequency RAM. But that’s only in games of this Assembly to the worst computer graphics of GeForce GT 1030. The only benefit Ryzen 5 2400G in our conditions is a subsequent trouble-free upgrade system, graphics card of GeForce GTX 1060 or even GeForce GTX 1070.

The table, in my opinion, clearly shows that by the end of the year the miners finally “blown away.” All sorts of online flea market littered with interesting propositions for 6-8 thousand rubles to buy the accelerator level 470 Radeon RX 4GB. In this regard, cheaper, and “shop” cards — in December, I recommended the 570 Radeon RX 4GB, which should really be purchased for 12 500 rubles.

With the emergence of this video the start of the build has not changed — configuration AMD and Intel will still allow you to play modern games in Full HD resolution with the use of medium and high graphic settings. Unfortunately, the use of higher levels of image quality (with reasonable FPS) is limited by the lack of memory — both system and graphics.

The base Assembly

The entire year within the base Assembly proposed a configuration that allows you to play with comfortable FPS in all modern games. That is why the system was attended by 16 GB of RAM, 4 – or 6-core CPU, and video card with 6+ GB of VRAM. In my opinion, the build without the SSD is quite viable, however, the use of PC quick drive with capacity 120-256 GB significantly transform the system.

The last three issues of “Computer of the month” base Assembly without the platform of Intel. First, we finally were able to “push” the Core i5-8400 (April) — this time I waited since November of 2017. Obviously, the option of 6-core Ryzen looks better. Throughout the year the “red” chips just got cheaper. If at the beginning of the year recommended model Ryzen 5 1500X (4-core), already in may in reference Assembly “registered” Ryzen 5 1600, and then Ryzen 5 2600. The second generation of processors Ryzen recall, it was introduced in April 2018. With him AMD showed a new flagship chipset — X470.

Junior chipset — B450 — was presented in June at Computex 2018. In comparison with the B350 new chip has improved functionality.
