Another option for the starting Assembly can serve as a GeForce GTX 1060 3 GB. The most affordable model of this graphics card are averaging 14.5–16 thousand rubles. In terms of performance this model is no worse than the Radeon RX 570 4 GB, but only in those circumstances when an application is 3 GB enough VRAM. In fact, it is so my choice falls on the accelerator AMD — margin in 2018, the Radeon RX 570 4 GB is slightly higher. This fact we proved in 2017, when the head compared GeForce GTX 1060 3 GB Radeon RX 470 with 4 GB, and in 2018, when tested from 9 monitored by PWM versions of video cards based on chip GP106.


And yet, in the annotations to the launch Assembly still talking about games (at least) on medium graphic settings. Because these systems still use 8 GB of RAM, which for some games is not enough. Therefore, upgrading RAM is better not to pull — modern gaming PC you need 16GB of memory.

Overclocking RAM is known to be very important for the generation AMD chips. And given the application in the Assembly fast enough graphics card, it is necessary to minimize the so-called effect of processorepiemonte. As for CPUs, the starting Assembly over the last month has not changed. The system with “hyperprism” looked… so-so, but as you can see, in the budget segment, the situation is exacerbated and compounded. And yet the Intel build in this section, there is a variant with Pentium Gold g5400 is advised for those who need a gaming PC right now, but who have no desire to “butt out” 18 500 rubles for a Core i5-8400. Therefore, in the starting Assembly do not apply such processors as AMD Athlon X4 950 and Intel Celeron chips. That is why in the opening the Assembly you will not see examples of systems based on discrete graphics GeForce GT 1030 and Radeon RX 550. Yes, these graphics are quite “pull” multi-projects caliber Dota 2, CS: GO, World of Tanks, but want to be pampered in the modern projects.

This theme: cheap gaming builds recently, we have devoted a separate issue of “Computer of the month”. The goal was set: to assemble system unit cost 30 000 rubles from the “shop” components. The result of the seven options considered truly fit for AAA games at medium to high graphics quality settings were only one Assembly, built on the frankly outdated platform AM3+. At the heart of the PC lay a 6-core chip AMD FX-6300, 8 GB RAM DDR3-1600 and GeForce GTX 1050 Ti. In General, in our market there is a very sad situation. If you plan to overclock the CPU, it makes sense to take the cheapest 6-core AMD. “Regarde” Ryzen 5 1600 cost 11 000 rubles. The savings comes small, but it is.

Please note that a reference Assembly still apply for B350 motherboard the chipset. Just motherboards on base of chipset B450 remain expensive. For example, the model ASRock B450M-HDV is 5 500 rubles. And if you have decided to buy Ryzen 5 2600, remember that in the store, you can sell the motherboard with the old BIOS. As a result, the device simply does not detect the new chip. For the second month in a row in the base Assembly it is recommended, Radeon RX 580, but more recently, this model is impossible to find on sale. The cheapest GeForce GTX 1060 6 GB in the “Regarde” is 19 500 rubles, but the model Inno3D Compact 2 N1060-6DDN-N5GM I would for the money did not take. As in the case with the starting build, I recommend to buy the Samsung modules Mxxxxxxxxxxxx-CRC. They quietly dispersed to 2933 and even up to 3200 MHz with a slight increase in delays and timings. Overclocking the memory significantly increases the performance of chips Ryzen: the use of the kit DDR4-3200 in comparison with the kit DDR4-2133 makes the system faster by an average of 15 %!

In the base, optimum, and maximum advanced assemblies available power supply capacity 600-750 watts. It is clear that these systems do not need such number of watts. For example, an Assembly with a Core i7-7700 and GeForce GTX 1080 in games consumes a maximum of 250 watts. However, the choice of these models has several arguments. First, the difference in price between the units 400, 500 and 600 watts is insignificant. We will save a lot of money, but only overpay, as even during the installation of the CPU and video card with more TDP-power power supply will still be sufficient with a good margin. Second, any power supply operates with maximum efficiency when loading in the range of 40-60 %. In this mode, the BP components are less heated and the fan operates at reduced speed. Third, models with a capacity of 600-700 watts elementary more cables with the necessary connectors.

Take the power supply capacity more than 1 kW in home systems with a single processor and a pair of graphics cards really pointless.

The optimal build is also without platform LGA1151v2. I wrote that taking Core i5-8400 for 18 500 rubles makes no sense. To buy Core i5-8600 at 21 000 rubles. In this system, in my opinion, would be well looked Core i5-9600K, but for this chip in the “Regarde” asking 23 000.

Last month in an optimum Assembly used CPU Ryzen 7 1700X — at the time the 8-core cost less Ryzen 5 2600X. Now the flagship 6-core AMD chip you can buy 14 500 rubles — so we returned to the configuration and target two birds with one stone. With 12 in-line load Ryzen 5 2600X operates at a frequency of 3.95 GHz technology Precision Boost 2 and XFR2 are doing their job. At the same Ryzen 5 2600X, in my opinion, needs no overclocking. For example, we managed to overclock the chip only to 4.15 GHz. Working at this frequency, the system become slower in games. It turns out that technology Precision Boost 2, XFR2 is so intelligent that when the games load, which almost never can use all the cores of a multicore processor, they are very aggressive increase the frequency and output of the older Pinnacle Ridge is a step above the limit which is achievable by simultaneous manual overclocking all cores at once.

Instead Ryzen 5 2600X can be used in the system of the lower 8-core 1700 Ryzen 7 (16 000). I recommend this CPU to overclock at least up to 3.9 GHz — in this mode, the system will show about the same level of performance in games, but in intensive tasks the Assembly Ryzen 7 will be noticeably faster. Without overclocking Ryzen 5 2600X is faster Ryzen 7 1700 because of substantial differences in clock frequency.

For best Assembly results are also used boards not on the older chipset, but this time we are talking about the B450. As you know, to disperse any Ryzen chip is enough motherboards based on this chipset. To pay for a more feature-rich chipsets, such as the X370 and X470, it makes sense, in my opinion, just for the sake of introducing array support AMD CrossFire and NVIDIA SLI according to the scheme x8+x8 PCI Express 3.0.

What has not changed in the optimal build is the graphics card. GeForce GTX 1070, a longtime frequenter of the optimal build. At the time of writing the cost of the graphics adapter in the store “regard” started from 27 500 rubles. At the same time, the model 1070 GeForce GTX Ti are an average of 3 000 rubles more. This version is based on the full CPU GP104, it turns out in games faster by an average of 10 %. What version of GeForce GTX 1070 to prefer only a question of availability of additional funds. If you have them, then you can safely take a faster decision.

Recall that at the optimum, advanced, maximum, and extreme builds I will no longer recommend hard drive of a certain amount. Just review each issue is constantly having discussions on this matter. Some believe that the HDD in the computer is no longer needed. Others are not willing to spend money on SSD, considering that the sense of it in a gaming PC is zero. Others mocked the volume, offering storage for 3, 4 or more terabytes. As you can see, you cannot please everyone. I agree with the opinion that the organization of the disk subsystem in the PC — it is purely individual approach. So do as you see fit.
