But in the case of Red Faction: Guerrilla, do not want to swear — these games still comes out really small. To wreak havoc is so much fun that very quickly cease to pay attention to a sample plot and dreary design locations.
Hammer Mason acquires at the very beginning of the passage, as well as remote-controlled explosives. This is enough to erase from the face of the earth any plant. Even after nine years after Guerrilla to watch as walls crumble, a pleasure. To seek out weaknesses in design, to bring the exploding barrels, to determine where to throw the explosives. The process is so enjoyable, not boring and after ten hours. I do not want to use firearms, although in excess, is to run from one enemy to another, and to beat all the sledgehammer a lot of fun if you combine it with performing the basic tasks. So I would recommend passing Red Faction: Guerrilla on the lowest level of complexity — otherwise will have to use cover, aim for the head and do that and so offers many other action games.
Also I would like to see the mess and take an active part in it, and the game does not punish for it. Quite the contrary — the more buildings you destroy, the more scrap metal you receive in your inventory, and using it on the basis of the acquired improvements and new weapons. So the main gameplay feature of the project is preserved almost perfectly — if you came here just for the destruction and not the plot, the mass of positive emotions is guaranteed.
But the rest of the Guerrilla remains a game nine years ago, the shortcomings of which not to correct any re-mastering. Open world — the usual place for entertainment, to travel which without music and some interesting developments get bored pretty quickly. The mission design is also rarely pleased with original ideas, but different regions are not too different from each other. By and large, all that you saw within the first half hour, you will observe the way to the final, and no surprises should be expected. Combined with a mediocre script and faceless characters turns a simple action movie, “leaving” only due to the unusual process.
But it’s enough even today, when there are a lot more quality for the execution of the action. If you dive in the key game mechanics (which is easy to do), to break away would be difficult, because at every step you waiting for the fun. There are some excellent side quests, where you have to shoot from the turret on technology and facilities, there is a delivery vehicle for some time, there are instructions related to the destruction of convoys. Always have a choice what to do and how to do the job — for example, just scatter machines mines or to destroy the bridge under which they will pass.
In the re-release the game not too decorated, age makes itself felt — for example, the rollers do not look perfect, and the interface is not very convenient. Higher quality textures, improved lighting model and other changes is hard to miss, especially if you look at the graphics in the PS3 version. On PS4 Guerrilla is reproduced at 60 frames/s, which seem to be stable and during the movement of Mars, and the destruction of high buildings.
Also in the re-release have not forgotten about the multiplayer. All of the online trophies transferred from PS3 to PS4, and therefore to obtain a “platinum” will have to participate in 250 matches. But you may not want to spend that much time in here — even with the multiple modes lose interest very quickly (after all, the quality of online fighters on the market very much). In Guerrilla already, the lobby is filled with difficulty, and only after a week or a month to assemble two teams of participants will be even more difficult.
Remaster, in which work is carried out only over the quality of textures and lighting is always difficult for anyone to recommend. Especially if we are talking about the game nine years ago. If you missed the game at the time of its release, to see the Guerrilla still stands, but it would be wrong to expect it to modern quality standards — many of the elements of the project Volition obsolete.
But to destroy buildings as much fun as many years ago, and the game allows you to destroy all in its path to almost everything. Not just allows, but builds around this chaos all missions, more quests and other entertainment. To buy the console version to get nostalgic, hardly worth it, but to re-take Red Faction: Guerrilla on the PC with a free upgrade is possible, if a couple evenings.
