Review smartphone ASUS Zenfone 3 Deluxe: first season in top League
The flagship of ASUS this year was presented loudly – at Computex 2016 it is presented as a real engineering marvel. In fact, after meeting with the smartphone at the exhibition impressions were strictly positive. And now, almost six months later, Zenfone 3 Deluxe on sale – beautiful, powerful… and expensive.
We’ve always loved ASUS for a competent price policy. This company has never released a flagship smartphone in the conventional sense, but there were many balanced models at
It is worth to mention that there are several versions of Zenfone 3 Deluxe, as is usually the case with ASUS. And they differ not only RAM and non-volatile memory, but also platform: you can find Deluxe with Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 and Snapdragon with 821.

Design, ergonomics, software
During the presentation, ASUS strongly emphasized that in Zenfone 3 Deluxe she managed to successfully get rid of the forced stylistic decisions, which have to put up with almost all manufacturers. Talking about the plastic inserts on the metal enclosures, which are almost all high-end smartphones. There are at the ends, like Samsung Galaxy S7 or Galaxy Note 7, are on the back cover, as the iPhone 7. It is no secret that it is necessary for stable transmission and reception of the signal from the wireless modules. Many designers try to mask these stripes visually make the body is one, but it turns out, it honestly doesn’t matter. ASUS only managed to fully get rid of them.
However, if you look closely at the beveled polished bezel screen in the front, you can see three tiny notches: two on the bottom and one on top. So to be absolutely accurate, then Apple has failed to completely get rid of the plastic “Windows” for antennas. Managed, however, to make a record of them small and almost invisible.
The body is made from a single piece of aluminium and, of course, sealed. The thickness is impressive – 7.5 mm at its thickest point and only 4.2 mm at the side edges. In numbers, this difference seems significant, but in reality the rear panel is slightly curved. The approach, by the way, very correct – with comparable size with the iPhone 7 Plus Taiwanese flagship is much easier to use and it delivers much less inconvenience when placed in the front pocket of jeans. The end face can seem sharp in the photos, but tactilely, they felt almost the same way as is the rounded side iPhone or Galaxy S7 Edge.
The only elements that break the perfect streamline shape Zenfone 3 Deluxe, became prominent the main camera lens and the fingerprint sensor on the back panel, placed in the recess. Next to the camera located not only flash, but the laser, which enables faster and more accurate focusing to sharpness. More on this story in the section dedicated to the camera.
On the front panel as usual: top – peephole front camera, speaker and proximity sensor, the bottom three touch buttons that control the device. On the left is the slot for SIM cards and microSD card. The volume buttons and the inclusion is located on the right side. On the bottom edge is the USB Type-C, a small speaker grille and the microphone. But the top face of the housing Zenfone 3 Deluxe could easily get a selection of images from the series “hell of a perfectionist” – to-3.5-millimeter headset Jack is not exactly in the middle, and with a slight shift to the left. From a functional point of view, this does not prevent, but for some reason I really wanted to move it to the right – just for symmetry.
It is impossible not to note that the Zenfone 3 Deluxe looks much sleeker any of the brethren. From the point of view of quality of materials, Assembly and finishing, he is in no way inferior to the Samsung and Apple. This is a premium thing, as is the case when simply looking at the device, can be clearly identified – it costs a lot. I should add that the model is available in three colors: gold, dark grey and silver. Any acidic tones and girly pink – apparently ASUS believes that shocking in this segment inappropriate. Hard to argue.
The smartphone runs on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow with shell ZenUI 3.0. Support for Android 7.0 Nougat will appear, apparently, in the new year, well, proprietary software add-in ASUS hardly needs a single view of it we talked in detail in the reviews of Zenfone and Zenfone 3 Max 3 Ultra. But in the case of 3 Deluxe Zenfone ZenUI offers several additional features. There is, for example, Always-on Panel that allows you to display the screen clock, weather, battery power, icons of missed calls and unread messages when the smartphone is in standby mode. Of course, such a thing makes sense only in the presence of AMOLED display is constantly active LCD matrix in consuming the battery the most ruthless manner.
There are traditional for the ASUS Home function is a kind of quick menu with nine icons for quick access to the main settings. And for more convenient operation with such a large display provides for a special one-handed mode that allows you to reduce the picture on the screen and align it to the bottom right or left edge. Is activated by double-tapping on the Home button, if you put the appropriate checkbox in the settings menu.
We should also emphasize that the screen area is used as efficiently as possible three standard Android keys made on the panel under the screen. Everything they touch, gently highlighted by the contours of icons. For additional display operation using light vibration feedback – a bit like the Taptic Engine in the iPhone.
In General, after an external examination Zenfone 3 Deluxe there remains only one question to ASUS: you guys forgetting something? Even Apple, long and hard denying the need for moisture protection, eventually succumbed to the persuasion and implemented it in the iPhone 7. It becomes an essential attribute of any self-respecting flagship smartphone. The Taiwanese missed this moment, so that all potential owners of the Zenfone will have to be extra cautious, even during the rain.
