Review ZTE Blade V8: 3D smartphone
We wrote about the ZTE Blade V8 predecessors. And Blade V7, and V7 Max Blade made a definitely good impression is not too outstanding performance, but qualitatively collected and confident working models of the middle class. Metal body, Full HD display, normal for our time set of features and average performance. About what would expect from a smartphone for 15-16 thousand rubles. But they obviously didn’t have enough raisins, and in some ways they are even behind the current trends.
In the rest of the Blade V8 is just what you would expect from an older smartphone of this family: a metal bar with middle diagonal display and relevant but not the most powerful system-on-chip. But there is a surprise – instead of the usual Mediatek solutions in Blade V8 found platform Qualcomm Snapdragon 435. And this is definitely good news.

Design, ergonomics and software
When designing ZTE Blade V8 decided to bet on the simple style, let the fashion today all on the contrary — cheerful colors and unusual shapes, for example with a display covering almost the entire front panel (see LG G6 or Samsung Galaxy S8). But black and gray are still the most popular colors (see in particular the iPhone 7 Jet Black), and not to stand out when you choose phone we have become accustomed. However, the dullness, as you know, quite a lot of shades: even on the background of the V7 Blade or a new Blade Z10 looks boring.
In addition to the grey-black version that I got on the test, there is the Golden (and Golden color covered the front panel, too) – it looks a little ridiculous, that does not prevent him, in contrast to the pink-and-white modification, officially delivered to Russia. In General, at first sight two color version feels Chinese approach is gray-black in their background looks to European eyes is really more advantageous.
Draw attention to several specific details: large front camera lens with the caption (in this case the number of megapixels, and the Chinese version says “Beauty Shot”), the “Home” button, which, naturally, integrated fingerprint reader, and a die with two cameras on the rear panel, where there was a place for single led flash. The plate extends slightly over the case, despite the fact that blame the smartphone into excessive subtlety doesn’t work, 7.7 mm, quite common indicator.
And above the display and it left a lot of space from this, as well as the visible side of the framework are already starting to wean. However, to use a smartphone with a 5.2-inch screen and one hand, face valid sizes ZTE in this case is not moved. This gadget, despite the metal casing, fairly easy – 142 grams. To make any significant claims to its ergonomics I can’t.
All the controls are in the usual places. Near the mechanical “Home” button located touch navigation keys. They are highlighted only at the moment of touching, and which of them is responsible for what function (return to the previous screen and a menu of open applications), can be adjusted in the settings.
Other keys are on the right side, and the power button is different from the volume buttons – it is less projecting over the hull and rough to the touch. On the bottom we see the two lattices, but the left of them decorative. There is only one speaker.
Fingerprint scanner traditional capacitive – works quickly but makes many mistakes, is only slightly contaminate your finger or damage it. Nothing unusual about that. Using the fingerprint to unlock a smartphone, launch your favorite applications and access to a dedicated– personal space. Latest – branded chip ZTE, and quite successful.
ZTE Blade V8 UI

ZTE Blade V8 – one of the first smartphones based on Android 7.0 Nougat. Of course, OSes covered with a proprietary shell MiFavor UI, but all the key functions remain on the ground. Read more about them we already wrote, even in version 7.1, and in addition, from the pixel touch. Has its own characteristics and ZTE. First and foremost, they are in a fairly large set of preinstalled software: in addition to the just what “Personal space” in which to hide from the prying eyes of various information, there is a set of basic applications (including a FM radio, if someone still need it), there is antivirus from AVG, a special app for viewing VR content is not too optimized for the realities of our fitness program ZTE Fit (in which feet and miles cannot be changed to centimeters and kilometers), as well as mountain partner applications. Moreover, in addition to just spread out on the working application screens (here and games that are stacked in a special folder, and a handful of programs of “Yandex”, and UC Browser as default browser), under the distribution were blind notifications – at the lower edge, you may notice links to direct access to Russian social networks. And it is to their web versions, not apps. For my taste, all this excessive, obsessive concern for the user which he can download from Google Play what he wants.
