At least with the focus of the ASUS Zenfone Zoom 3 there is no question – this is not the first smartphone in the history of the Taiwanese company with optical zoom, but the first with dual camera. The third generation of the Zenfone has turned the whole rather successful: the original model with the Snapdragon 625 on Board looks very good in its segment “a little over twenty thousand rubles.” Not the last role in this was played by pretty lovely design model. But it is, however, one problem that affects the whole family at once. Abandoning the traditional series of keys on the rear panel, ASUS has sharply reduced awareness of their “zanfona”.
Here Zenfone Zoom and 3 – on the one hand, it is really similar to the regular “three”, and on the other to see it, it is necessary to consider them side by side and to notice the similarities. The series has lost family traits in favor of the classic ergonomics of a modern Android smartphone: the inseparable pair of keys (power and volume control) on the right side and recessed into the housing of the fingerprint scanner on the rear panel. To this are added the Zoom in and utterly relevant for two of the main camera lens, combined in a block in the upper left corner of the same back panel. For registration of 3 Zenfone Zoom uses a very nice color – soft, but non-standard, along with silver it is dark blue (as in our test) and pale pink.
It is difficult to say what exactly was the cause – the characteristics of the optics or built-in wide angle lens stabilizer, but the camera module slightly protrudes above the body, and not too thin (8 mm). Terrible this is nothing – just be careful with your phone when you put it back. However, the lenses still covered with protective glass, scratch them uneasy.
The body is made of metal, and the front panel is fully covered by tempered glass Gorilla Glass 5 – more resistant to fall from height than its predecessors, but collecting minor scratches. To carry the smartphone in your pocket with coins and keys is definitely not worth it. The build quality is a matter of respect — all smoothly and accurately.
Weighs 3 ASUS Zenfone Zoom 170 grams – for a device with a 5.5-inch display and a battery of five thousand milliampere-hours is quite normal. But ultra-thin frames around the screen, it is no different – with one hand to use the smartphone I did not succeed, was forced to shift it in my hand.

Proprietary shell ASUS ZEN UI is very specific. On the one hand, it is clearly seen that the developers are motivated by very noble motives, trying to give the user maximum start exploring the camera – settings of the operating system are impressive flexibility, and the number of pre-installed software should allow you to “steer the process” as detailed as possible. But the shell sometimes crosses the invisible line and become too Intrusive – for example, at some point it picked up Instagram icon next brand “beutification” appearing each time you start the application. Alternatively, it is also each time to throw away, dragging in a temporary “trash” or need to go into app settings and force stop it there.
Also a few unpleasant regardless of his wishes to meet some gaming applications – despite the fact that when you activate the smartphone, he asks, what is recommended software to install, and it is not necessary. About some things he is silent and installs them mandatory.
