EPSON Stylus Photo TX710W – ultra-thin photo-MFP
Model number inkjet all-in-one Epson is rather wide and allows to choose the device for specific tasks, not overpaying for features that may never be used. That we were able to test the device – Epson Stylus Photo TX710W, looks very similar to the older model in the lineup of Stylus Photo TX. It is also equipped with wired and wireless network interfaces, device memory card reader lets you print on the disc surface. But there is no openly “office” modules, namely the ADF sheet and Fax that to the home user is more of a bonus than a necessity.

Have tested the commercial version, but the package was incomplete, because the sample is a representative office of Epson as a trial. Full commercial delivery include the following:
- set of ink cartridges;
- power cable;
- network cable (RJ-45);
- CD with drivers and additional software;
- a quick guide;
- full guide;
- setup guide network connection;
- warranty card/service book;
- brochure “Original Epson consumables”.
In the package there is no disc holder, since it is integrated into the design of the hull and extends on demand, as in the case of the previously tested MFP EPSON Stylus Photo TX800FW.
The device under test is incredibly similar to older models in the line-MFP – TX800/TX810, and the external differences are only in the small but very important detail. Immediately struck by the lack of a hump in the left of the cover, after all, TX710W no ADF. Because of this, the height of the device became smaller and the similarity of the MFP with an element of home theater intensified. Another distinguishing feature of display and control panel, which is similar to the panel 600 series. As in the 800 series, in working condition TX710W no protruding paper tray because you only use tape at the bottom of the hull.
The case looks stylish – thin and shimmering in the rays of light glossy panels sometimes make you forget that this MFP. But the gloss has to pay, and gloss you need to constantly wipe in order to preserve the neat appearance of the device. Most of the prints suffers from control panel. In addition, the glossy coating was not too reliable, it is easy to damage during transport. But the build quality no comments.
In the lower right corner of the front panel the device is a memory card reader and USB port, used for connecting cameras and USB flash drives. Almost the entire lower part of the body is the wall of the paper tray. Part of the wall of the tray when printing automatically leans back.
Telescopic 3-section tray with hinged major stroke limiter paper is very easy to arrange and as well elementary folds, whereas in younger models TX telescopic trays when used carelessly often “bites”.
The tray (or cassette) is not easy, and duplex. Main tray allows you to set the media format from A5 to A4/Letter and upper tray are mainly intended for printing and allows you to set the media size from 3,5×5″ up to 13×18 cm (5×7″). By itself, the tray is small, so versatility has to pay his humble capacity, although for photo-IFIs focused primarily on individual use, it’s not so big disadvantage, but the convenience, plus significant.
The front upper part of the housing is hinged to the control panel. Maximum angle of lifting plate is 90 degrees. There are four intermediate positions of rigid fixation, which contributes to the convenience of working with IFIs. As mentioned, though, the device looks like older models TX800/TX810, the control panel is more akin to the multifunction printer TX600FW, so, of course, neither the touchscreen nor the touch sensitive buttons is not here. Panel the 600-and 700-series, though similar, but not identical: in the button mode selection button, a Fax replaced the function switch to the setting mode, added key release disk holder, in addition, TX710W no numeric keypad and three keys control the reception/sending of faxes.
Top lid conceals a flatbed scanner type. The course cap is just over 90 degrees in this position, the cover and fixed. Intermediate angles of fixation of the disclosure of the cover is not, and must either disclose to an extreme position, either to hold hand. Connection loops allow you to lift the lid on a humiliating low height of just 6 mm, which allows you to scan with the lid closed, except that a very thin booklets or magazines. But, at the same time, not to mention the simple procedure of removing the cover, allowing the lid to scan the media of any thickness.
On the back of the device to the left are the RJ-45 and USB (type B-F), right – Jack connection cord, and the center of a large decorative removable panel to the place where you can install an optional duplex unit. Sides of the device are a recesses-handles for easy lifting of the scanner module.
