Camera review Olympus Traveller Stylus SH-1: find for tourists
Camera for not too active leisure, but rather for the traveler should at least be easy to work with, have an impressive zoom to capture all the sights without having to wind a huge mileage, a long work on a single charge and good look. These requirements Olympus Traveller Stylus SH-1 is, in principle, satisfied. Actually, from the title of the series can be seen, the target audience of the camera. This camera boasts of having a lens with 24x zoom, multi-touch display, and stock an Autonomous speed at SH-1 is impressive. Of course, I could use a GPS receiver, but it is not, however, a built-in Wi-Fi module that allows you to control the camera from a smartphone that also can be useful in travel.

The package is quite typical for a compact — battery, USB charging, USB cable, CD with additional software, as well as owner with the manual. In General, nothing remarkable.
Appearance and usability
The latter can be clearly seen borrowing from the PEN, and it is from her and not from the premium series “buzzerblog” OM-D, which are similar in appearance extremely interesting, but also very expensive compact Olympus Stylus 1. In General, the manufacturer even in the segment of compact clearly delineates frankly expensive solutions and models of the medium price range. In fact, such rigid structuring expensive and not very expensive compacts — a necessary measure, because frankly cheap cameras in the lineup are almost there, and, most likely, in the near future they will be even less, because the “bottom” draw smartphones. “Top” also pressured the budget “buttercake”, so the space for a bit — you have to get out somehow.
So the SH-1 is not a reward but a relatively expensive camera, although in press releases and the emphasis on “premium content”. Sounds such a phrase related to the design of compact if not funny, then funny, but it is recognized that the manufacturer did not penny wise and actually used in the design of the hull metal. The front panel is covered by a quality rubber with a textured pattern resembling the skin. Imitation so successful that already a couple of tens of centimeters is possible to doubt that it’s rubber. In General, the type of SH-1 is a good product with the case from high-quality materials. The build quality is high, but fortunately, it is becoming commonplace. When trying to twisting and squeezing the body can not be completely and does not emit any sounds. Although the fault is still there to what — the upper part of the lifting flash from the back side when folded is barely noticeable, but still stands above the General surface. However, it can be seen only if you look very carefully from the closest distance. The camera comes in three colors — black, white and silver. If the first two is plain in the silver chamber, which came to us for testing, the back side and the rubber pad on the front panel are black.
Are only the front lens and the lamp the AF-assist illuminator. From the rear elements a little more, however, high workload there. A large part takes the display to the right of which was a key transition in the preview mode, go to the main menu and select the display mode, as well as round 4-way multifunction button navigation, augmented by input button in the center. It is noteworthy that the key “left” does not provide any additional functions and is only responsible for calling the quick menu, but to activate it you can also press “up”, “down” button “enter”.
At the top are the drive select mode, the shutter key with the zoom lever zoom control, power button, a couple of microphones, as well as lifting the flash with a mechanical lock. The slider lock is located next to the flash, but not particularly good at it pretty hard to shift with a finger: despite the “toothy” surface of the slider, even owners of medium thickness fingers have to cling to him, for example, a nail.
Bottom all the standard connector mounting on a tripod, as well as compartments for the battery and memory card, concealed spring-loaded single door.
The right side surface is empty, and the left is just a plastic door that hides the connectors USB/AV – and HDMI-cables.
